Frequently Asked Questions
Who We Treat
Runners, triathletes, weekend warriors, and anyone that is struggling with orthopedic issues or looking to improve their performance levels. Orthopedic conditions include, but are not limited to: the spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, low back, hip, knee, ankle/foot, or musculoskeletal sprains and strains. Are you dealing with something not listed above? Give us a call and see if we can help!
Referrals
Texas currently has limited direct access for physical therapy services. This means that you can see a physical therapist for 15 consecutive business days without a referral. If treatment is to extend beyond those 15 days a referral would be needed. Referrals can be obtained from a medical doctor, chiropractor, physician's assistance, nurse practitioner, or dentist for TMJ.
Billing
At Velocity Performance PT, we want to provide you with treatment based on your individual needs and not what is dictated by your insurance company. Therefore, VPPT provides fee-for-service treatment and is out-of-network with insurance providers. We do take HSA and FSA. Some insurance companies will reimburse for out-of-network services and a superbill can be provided for you upon request.
What to expect during a session
It depends on your goals. Every session will be direct one-on-one with Dr. Sells and start with an assessment/movement screen. Treatment can include manual therapy (joint and soft tissue) techniques, neuromuscular re-education (ensuring muscles are firing efficiently and with proper sequencing), and/or strengthening exercises.
What is expected between sessions
We believe a crucial part of recovery is educating and empowering you to improve body awareness and self management of symptoms. You will be given exercises to work on in between sessions to promote autonomy, enhance your recovery, and prevent future injury.
